A significant number of people seeking asylum live in the Logan area. An increasing number of them have had their income cut off due to a change in immigration policies.
Local community and church groups, school hubs and individuals provide much needed support. To enhance this support and make best use of limited resources a more coordinated approach was needed.
Asylum Circle is now supporting an emerging group in Logan called Logan Asylum Support Group.
In just a few months this group has raised thousands of dollars and garnered support from the wider community and the unions.
Developmental work continues as this group explore a funded coordination role.
